It was worth $10 million to Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is a world-famous actor who has won two Golden Globes during his long career and an estimated net worth of $180 million. He has also delivered some very inspiring speeches in his time.

Jim Carrey was always successful, but this wasn’t always evident. He struggled for a long time during the 1980s as a comedian and actor and met with many failures, but he didn’t give up. He believed he could make it.

In 1985, Jim wrote a cheque to himself for ‘acting services rendered’ dated 10 years from then to the tune of $10 million. Jim was into conscious manifestation (as opposed to most people who are unaware of what or how they are manifesting) and kept the cheque in his wallet for 10 years, focusing his energy on it each day until his desire became a burning obsession.

And in November 1995 he landed his first big role as Lloyd in the ‘Dumb and Dumber’ movie, and he received a $10 million payment for his acting services. You can check out this story online. It’s an amazing example of the power of the human mind (a mind with the same potential as yours).

But what I really want to draw your attention to is how important clarity is in Jim’s success, because last week, I began to question the value of clarity in our lives, and how much would it be worth an individual.

Firstly, what is clarity? To me, clarity is having a clear mental picture of where you want to go and being honest about where you are now, and having a clear image of the person you need to become to get there i.e., what limiting beliefs you need to release so you can grow.

Imagine knowing exactly where you are now, exactly where you want to go, and knowing exactly who you need to become to get there, how much would this be worth to you?

To put it into perspective, can you imagine Jim Carrey heading off to the audition of ‘Dumb and Dumber’ without knowing the purpose and storyline of the movie, without knowing the character he was going to play and their personality, and without knowing his lines.

No matter how good his ability as an actor would be, not having this clarity would have rendered his ability useless.

For Jim Carrey, I believe this clarity was worth $10 million because he used it to land a lead role. Clarity is powerful, it only requires some thinking other than that, it is free!

Jim had a clear goal which he carried each day in his wallet. This was a very definite demand which he built into such a desire, that it moved him into action and caused him to get the extra mile to become the best actor he could be.

You can bet that during the 10 years it took for him to make it big that he had many temporary defeats, but his goal always took priority, not the defeats, and because of this, he persisted until he made it.

So if you don’t know what lead role you’re going after, how much do you think this lack of clarity is costing you?

If you really think about what you want to achieve in life, you’d realise that you can’t afford to not have clarity.

So how much would you be willing to pay for it? €1 million? €100,000? €10,000?

Do you want help getting clear on your goals and what changes you need to make?
